Yes he did. Thanks Seiichi for what I studied the Glasnost' in the basis of the Perestroika by him. The reason why he joined in the communist party was that the government offered a carpenter in his boyhood, he told about it with a smile on TV. Yes he is a true leader!!
Glasnost was modified to ' false propaganda ' by Putin. Transition to capitalist economy has devalued Russian Ruble to 1/100 when USSR dismantled. Then pensioners expressed great dissatisfaction with the change in the political system. When I visited Moscow in 1984, Only Dollar shops displayed good articles but not in department stores. They had strict currency exchange control to avoid black market. ( Ruble value was more than US$ ) Russia now retuned to the time of before1990 by authoritarianism.
