  1. Watching speaker’s mouth or eyes?

    I was told from some teachers to watch speaker’s eyes.

    This attitude showed sincerity or politeness, probably they said something like that.

    It was difficult for a timid girl (me) to watch someone’s eyes directly.

    However, it was better to watch someone’s eyes than check their tooth alignment.

    Now, I stare blankly at eyes or mask.

    1. Yes! It is difficult for a shy person (me) to keep eye contact, too.
      But it’s very common in Asia.

      Generally speaking, East Asians make less eye contact compared to Europeans and North Americans.

      I don’t know where the cognitive scientist in the article got that idea from.
