Well, they all have large donation bins at the entrance. So paying is optional, or a matter of conscience (for the rich). They wouldn't get half as many admissions if they charged. And it would become an elitist attraction. But it would be twice as enjoyable with half as many people.

collect entrance fees. The difference between Louvre and
those two museums are quite obvious! Musée du Louvre demands
